it's a fine towel, but doesn't live up to the hype...
this towel was purchased on the coattails of the onsen (emperor's new towel) hype of super absorbent and quick drying. we have a bath situation that vexes most towels. by all accounts, this is an identical towel (some other waffle weave towels are not), but still expensive even at almost 1/2 the price of the onsen ($32 vs. $50+). that said, it's a nice towel otherwise. the color/texture is variegated (light/dark mix) which gives it a more luxe appearance than a flat color. it's finished nicely at the edges and is fairly minimal overall (in a good way). ... so, it's a good $32 towel. but my existing (ikea) towels are good at $12, so you have to weigh the empirical cost-benefit.the issue is: it simply isn't magical. per the ads and hype, you'd expect a leprechaun to pop out and pat your back dry, but even after switching to irish-spring soap, no luck. for about $12 (the same price as my existing moderately priced cotton towels), we purchased a waffle weave microfiber towel that is hype-absent, but does dry a good bit quicker and is ultimately more absorbent ... i just don't feel as superior toweling off my backsides with a $12 (vs. $32 towel), though... so, i have to weigh: bathroom-self-image or performance. these might be good in the "guest" bath where the bougie towels might otherwise live. ... or because the luck of the irish is absent, we might send it back.onward.

Reminds me a lot of that more expensive towel...
There’s a Nutrl towel laying on top of an Onsen towel in my photos, pre-wash. Appears to be of the same woven fabric & the same yarns, right? In the photos I have the Nutrl towel on the top with an Onsen towel on the bottom because I had been curious about the different products. The Nutrl towel appears to be a non-standard sizing which I am ok with.It washed & dried without much fuss. The drying time between the two towels were identical. If you go with the Nutrl towel and don’t mind the slightly smaller dimensions then you can easily save some money.I deducted a star for a couple of reasons:-For a $35 a towel I was sad that some non-uniform shrinking happened & middle of the towel is skinnier than the ends. (I did launder to manufacturer instructions.)-It irks me when companies make a big deal about using USA grown cotton, only to export it to China for product fabrication.

Awful towel, not recommended
Awful towel! I wonder how it get so many rave reviews. It snagges on my earrings all the time, which hurts a lot! It also destroyed the weave and I can’t fix it. This towel is see-through like a thin napkin getting wet immediately, you can’t really use it. It lookes like it has deep waffle weave on the photo, in fact it’s almost flat. Way too expensive for this cheap quality. Would never buy it again!

Waaaaaaaaaaaay overpriced!
Don’t feed into the hype. This technology isn’t new or advanced. It’s a thin towel that takes twice as long as my fluffy towels to dry. The towel is light weight, but don’t expect performance out of this product.

Great Thin Towel
I ordered a few of these and a few ONSEN towels during a linen closet update. About 1-1.5 years in, I prefer Nutrl To ONSEN by far. My towels are washed at least every 7 days, often more frequently. My towels are washed by a cleaning team that has often left wet towels in the washing machine, but the whole premise if ONSEN is resistance to exactly this behavior. It just does not hold as true for ONSEN as Nutrl. My Nutrl towels are softer and better resist mildew smells when on fortunately mistreated. My ONSEN towels often emerge from the wash and dryer with a mildew smell. Not so for the Nutrl towels. I’m here to replace the ONSEN sets I ordered and to add more for our guest room. Please note these are fairly thin waffle weave towels. They DO NOT feel like super soft blanket like towels. The feel is utterly different. They remove water very well but don’t wrap you in a warm hug at all. Thus these are not ideal for folks seeking to replicate an American hotel experience. If you prefer a thinner, easy wash towel, I recommend this brand. If you want to be wrapped in a fluffy blanket after bathing, keep shopping.

These towels get soaked before you get dry.
I really anted to like these towels but they only do part of the job they advertise. They are very absorbent but once they absorb the water they can absorb your not drying anything anymore. You are just wiping a wet towel over your body. If you are a little person maybe this towel would dry you before it was soaking wet. I’m not overly large and I only get my upper body dry before the towel is wet and stops drying me off. I’ve washed these towels three times now and already there are threads starting to unravel. For the price I would go with something else. I already ordered some more traditional towels that hopefully will dry me before getting soaked. These towels also don’t dry that fast. I just tested one towel on removing wax from my car. They seem to be soft enough to do that without scratching the paint.

So so
Not as absorbant As I hoped it would be. Also not as heavy as the other towels I use in my home. It may be a antimicrobial and dry quicker but I don’t Like it as much as the heavier quality towels I have. Those towels were also cheaper

Good Towel but smaller than expected
Towel works as any towel should- it gets you dry. I like that it's light weight and dries quickly after use. I bought some other waffle towels and they're a better shape/size. I know dimensions are provided in the description, but seeing it in-person it's very skinny and really would be better if it was a bit wider. Star removed for this.
