Buy this, but keep your original broken mechanism!
Broken bonnet lock mechanisms seem to be an occupational hazard for Focus owners. Something about the built-in tamper-proof mechanism makes the original Ford mechanism delicate and prone to failure. Usually the lock barrel itself works fine, but the connecting mechanism fails, preventing the bonnet from opening.When my original unit failed I removed it from the car (helped by online videos) and (thankfully) kept it in a drawer, and for a while I just used a long screwdriver whenever I needed to open the bonnet.When I finally decided to replace the mechanism, I had no hesitation in buying an after-market replacement, given the fragility of the original. And I was very glad I had kept the original (broken) lock, for reasons I'll explain now...When it comes to replacing your bonnet lock, you have 2 main options:1) Buy one with a fully built lock barrel and two new keys. This is a quick and easy option, but you're stuck with carrying an additional key to open your bonnet,2) Buy one with a lock-building kit that allows you to build the lock barrel to work with your existing car key. Ultimately a good result, but requires hours of fiddly lock-building faff that can be off-putting.Keep your original (broken) mechanism though, and you have a great 3rd option...3) This is the easy option... Buy a replacement that includes a fully-built lock (this product!).The lock barrel in the lock mechanism is held in place by a couple of pins, and it's relatively easy to push these pins out to remove the lock barrel, then swap the old lock barrel in place of your new one. Bingo!...You have a new bonnet mechanism, and can use your original car key, without the hours of lock-building faff.So far this product has worked flawlessly, and for the price I'm very happy with it.Long-term Update: after 3.5years with vehicle parked outdoors, the mechanism still works flawlessly.

Long locking bolt.
Fitted well, first time went to open after the installation, I wouldn't work, sat on bonnet and then it worked. Sprayed WD40 and seems to be fine now.

Once I got the right size it was brilliant,there are 2 sizes short and long,had to send 1st one back as it was to short
