Motown 50th Anniversary Songbook

I grew up in Detroit just blocks from Motown's Hitsville USA headquarters and the music and my life have been intertwined ever since. This collection is like a giant musical scrapbook filled with a broad selection of songs. There isn't a song among them that I won't play at first chance. I was also delighted to see that many of the arrangements are different from some individual songs I've purchased over the years. It's also great that many of Motown's greatest performers are broadly represented. The book is like a collections of the greatest hits of: the Diana Ross (with and without the Supremes), Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and more. Whatever your mood, you'll find just the right songs to play in this collection.

This is a big book. It has a ton of piano music. Relevant as gives key signature & sheet music with lyrics for so many greats. Can be used for vibraphone as well. May have to adjust or transpose. Highly recommended for any Motown lover

This really is the best music book I have ever had. It contains many Motown hits, and though many of them are from the 60's there are some later ones. Many of the songs are written in (or close to) the same key they were recorded in, which is rare for a music book, although not allways written excatly as they were recorded. For example, "Beauty Is Only Skin Deep" is in the right key (C) but is written diferently and with a diferent opening. Also "My Guy" completely omits the intro (as do others) but it reapears later in the song, so its not a problem. Overall, Its a great book and worth the money.

There will always be a song or 2 that perhaps should have been included (or excluded), but this is a stellar collection.

Being born and raised in Detroit these tunes capture the heart and soul of the music and the era. A sparkling gem...

Love the book. Was surprised it took longer than most of my purchases to arrive.

It is not totally complete but it is the best I've seen in a long time. I wish more companies would come out with more music books like this.

Superb value and a great collection of classic tracks, even if it doesn't have all the ones I required. :-(Well laid out, good arrangements, accurate lyrics, well-chosen chords and good coverage of track idiosyncrasies.Thoroughly recommended.

Superb collection of songs and fantastic design and layout. Many songwriting books print the music in different keys, this one seemed to be exactly as the original recordings.

This is a weighty tome and has chords for lots of Motown songs but perhaps it's more orientated to piano players than guitarists Bought it for a present so hope it proved useful to the guitarist I gave it to?
