Can't be used freehand on steel.
The performance of this indexable countersink is not what I expected. I prefer single flute countersinks for freehand (drill motor) use and also at the drill press for quick, unclamped work.I expected this countersink to work just as any other single flute design... I was WRONG!For this countersink to its job the workpiece must be clamped down, otherwise the workpiece just chatters and the result is a choppy countersink that is just awful. The bit also gets gouged up opposite the cutting edge from chattering against the holes edge. For this tool to work properly the cutting edge radius should not be so much greater that the body radius as it is.Oh, and... "Yes" the image is (still) wrong. As expected, and warned by other reviewers, I did receive a tool with a single triangle insert.

Completely unusable as a countersink
The geometry of the bit is completely wrong as a countersink. Tried it on a full-size Bridgeport and it shakes the whole quill assembly sideways, and would not cut. All it does is shake the quill around.I have no idea what this tool is supposed to do, but it's useless as a countersink.

Solid cutter for the price
Needed to countersink holes in a big stainlesss steel plate for 3/4"-10 flat head screws. This worked pretty well in my mill drill, though I will say it dulled one edge on the indexed insert for each of the four holes and was not easy. In aluminum or plain steel I'm sure it would cut easier but hey that's just stainless steel for you. Nice thing is I can replace the insert and keep using it. A good addition to the tooling chest.

Not what is pictured, but is what I wanted
Picture is wrong, uses a single, triangular insert (either TCMT 32.51 or TCMT 32.52), and you do not have the option to move it. When compared to my other chamfer bits, it does indeed appear to be 82 deg. The insert is held in place by a Torx M4 x 10 screw. Looks well-built. I'm taking away one star for wrong picture.

Not whats pictured
Picture is wrong, uses different insert (triangle, 321), and you do not have the option to move it. not sure about the 82deg seat it will cut. Over all it looks good.
