Watercolor Paint Set, 28 Vibrant Vivd Metallic Color Cakes, with 1 Paint Brush, in a Nice Sturdy Water-Color Pan - Perfect for Artists and Beginners

I just finished my Color chart with these paints & I am satisfied that they will work in my adult coloring books for embellishments.I have watched all these talented colorists on YouTube, who have been using metallic paints, gouache, and acrylics in their coloring pages. It's been 50+ years since I painted with watercolors. I tried using watercolor pencils in my adult coloring books, but we didn't get along. When I saw these creators showing off their works & supplies, I knew that I had to try these metallic watercolor paints. I was unable to talk myself into the paints that the Youtubers used, much too expensive for someone to just check out. I purchased this set, thinking that I could invest in some more expensive paints later, if I wanted.I am pleased with my chart & feel like these will do me well, for the adult coloring books. This is what I discovered upon opening up the box:28 shiny paints which looked like the pans would be more than half sized, but with a thin layer of paint.I lightly dampened the paint in the pans & began applying color to a #8 (I think) round brush with acrylic bristles. The paint saturated the brush quickly, but I did thin out the paints too much for the first few pans.There is a lot of sparkle! Plenty of mica has been used to give these paints a nice shimmer. Perfect for fairie wings and star light!The mica does cause some clumping, but I was able to smooth this out with the tiniest bit of water.I was able to apply 2 coats to get a more opaque look, but these are not heavy paints! If you want a heave opacity, I would suggest that you purchase the Arteza Gouache Metallic paints from Amazon. These are the ones that appear to be affordable & effective for a heavy metallic look.I made my Color chart on Neham cardstock purchased at the local big box store. I was able to get nice color with no wrinkles or buckling. I am sure that too much water use will cause problems with most adult coloring books, though I have had success with minimal buckling using watercolor paint brush pens (which I don't care for).I would recommend this watercolor metallic paint set to anyone who is interested in giving their adult coloring books a little pop! Just remember, watercolors will not paint over wax and oil pencils! Plain accordingly, leave the areas on which you wish to use the paints empty, and do your painting last. If you are new to watercolors, or someone who can hardly remember how to use them, check out YouTube for great videos on how to use the paints effectively & which brushes to use. Most of all, just have fun!

As far as the colors themselves, this is a lovely set of metallic watercolors. They are vibrant and perfect to do some special effects for background work in coloring books which is what I got them for. However, when I received them 2 of the cakes were broken in several pieces and a number of the other cakes (as well as the broken ones) had come loose from their tray areas and were all moving all over in the main tray. I had to arrange them back in their spots and the one that is broken into more than 4 pieces is difficult to use. Furthermore, these paints had a nasty smell which I won't describe, suffice to say it was not pleasant. I will only be using these paints occasionally, but will not be purchasing this brand again.

Creamy, a good variety of colors and good coverage for metallic product. Though the packaging is a little flimsy, I would recommend the product in a heartbeat!

Great variety of color with lots of metallic pigment. I am a professional artist and bought this for my teen daughter who is getting started with painting. I will use these paints on some of my own pieces.
