As a scout leader, I feel it is necessary to always be well prepared and have experience with different tools. When people see the uniform they expect a leader with experience both with various tools and outdoor techniques. For many years I have been following that mindset. With that in mind, I have been acquiring a multitude of steel strikers, flint, ferrocerium rods, waterproof matches, and any other useful method I see for starting fires while camping. Given my experience, I am able to make recommendations to scouts and other new leaders on what equipment is good to buy and what brand of equipment to stay away from.Have mentioned the above, here is my conclusion:Leather pouch - a very nice setup with quality leather and plenty of room for the kit. I did not try attaching to my belt yet.Included flint piece - Very large nice piece. I usually carry a smaller piece to conserve more space, but this one was a nice size for this leather pouch.Char cloth canister is very small and does have a screw-on lid, so it shouldn't pop open. It is a bit too small to make char cloth, so you better save your Altoid cans for making fresh char cloth.Burlap bag looks nice, but I didn't try anything with it. My main concern was the performance of the steel striker.Steel Striker -- This is a complete failure. While the fit is nice, the steel temper is way too soft and I am unable to make a single spark with this steel striker. I tried about 7 different pieces of flint and the same result with all of them. I can switch to another steel striker I have, and immediately have multiple sparks with little effort with every piece of flint.I will wait to see if I receive a response about this from the company, otherwise, I will return the product.

Item arrived without the striker; quality control issue? I'll be returning it...Update: Upon seeing my previous review Konvoy offered to send a striker and another flint in the burlap bag in order to make it right. I received this promptly. I've changed this from one star to five stars: very nice leather pouch, Items are what I expected and seem to work well. I'm not returning it after all...

Everything but the English flint stone seems just fine. I opened the package, everything was in there.I was very disappointed with the stone. It was a 1/4” smaller than an USA quarter. SERIOUSLY. I tried to reach out but no answer. I wish I could’ve had a decent size piece like the picture shows.Other than that, the leather case, and everything else was just as advertised!!I would like to see if they would make it right with me. I wish I could do further business with them, and would like to. We will see. PeriodUpon actually seeing the reviews, I am right about the stone. If this company wants to keep its customers happy with their products, please send me the flint stone as advertised!!! Contact me if not!! Thank you Amazon. You always come through on your end!!!!!!

I was actually very satisfied in the performance of this flint and striker. Works great! I was able to start a fire in 15 seconds..This is my second kit; opposed to the previous style case, this newly redesigned leather pouch is great! Really brings the kit together. Thanks for such a quality piece. I highly recommend this product.

Everything but the English Flint was as advertised. The English Flint had almost half of the flint covered in useless stone, a white material. To break it off you would reduce the flint to too small of a stone to use. The remaining flint edge is rough, not sharp, and not useful. I would like a replacement flint if I can get it.

This is a great product, it fits in your hand very well and protects your knuckles. The striking surface is very thick and will build hundreds if not thousands of fires. The striker alone is worth the price, it looks had made by a real craftsman. It easily make good sparks.The pouch, flint and char are a nice touch so you can play with it immediately. The char is very good, usually catching the spark on the first or second strike.ThanksMark

The old, tried, and true way of fire starting is accomplished in this product. Genuine flint, a striker, tinder, and all enclosed in a well built leather pouch. Suitable for outdoorsmen, historical periodic performers, and for anyone just wanting the satisfaction of doing it right. Highly recommended.

Update - KonvoySG has upgraded the leather carrying pouch to fit the striker, char tin, and flint. I am very impressed with the quality of all the items and the attention to detail. The customer relations department deserves a mention also, after my first review they contacted me to ensure my complete satisfaction.The fire striker is very well made, comfortable in the hand, and throws great sparks every time. The only complaint that I have, is the leather carrying pouch. Although it is a high quality pouch, it is very tight and you are not able to fit a piece of flint comfortably in it at the same time.If it were more compatible with carrying all fire starting materials, or at least a fair sized piece of flint, I would have given 5 stars.

It will take a long time for me to master this method of firelighting, which is the point of getting it for me. Steel looks very well made and feels great in the hand, can get a good spark when I strike the flint correctly. But I'm a little saddened by the pouch. I expected a nice strong pouch, stiff and robust for outdoors use. But weirdly one side is very soft and bendy and the other is a little stiffer. The popper is cheap. I guess that considering you get a whole set for £30 instead of just a steel for £15, the pouch will be a little bad. But it's a shame anyway.

Firstly the leather pouch is of good quality, robust enough for the job but attractive too.The steel and flint are great, no problem in getting a spark on to the supplied char cloth. Even the tiniest spark is enough to get going , encouraged with gentle blowing. It all adds up to a very satisfactory kit, I am really pleased with it.

Fantastic quality. Managed to get an ember and tinder bundle going first time. Had back up fire lighting options with me but this was way more fun.

Awesome piece of kit the striker and pouch are both high quality. I don't get people compiling about the char cloth tinder its just a small sample probz just there to test the flint and striker out the pouch is quite small you can just fit the flint and striker in no room for tinder but that's fine for my needs

Belt pouch and fire tools perfect for scouts needs more materials but lots of space to add in extras
