I am quite disappointed & will in no way be replacing this Capresso ...
This is the 4th Capresso unit I have purchased. The 1st 2 purchased directly from Capresso. The 1st 2 lasted a little over a year before becoming faulty. They both stopped heating the milk which until then was piping hot & 1 of the units also stopped frothing fully. I purchased the 3rd unit through Amazon & it went faulty under 30 days so I returned & replaced with the same unit & this 4th unit that I am returning went faulty under 30 days, the same as the replacement. I am quite disappointed & will in no way be replacing this Capresso milk frother.

Things just don't last long enough, do they? Cheap parts die.
I have owned two. One bought 2014. One bought 2016. Guess what? It's 2018. I shouldn't be surprised i guess. Giving it three stars coz when it worked, it worked well. I liked the first model better and thought the replacement had a very tiny delicate whip wheel. So it took longer and could do smaller batches. But I use this every day. I have a Nescafe Dolce gusto and make latte every day. The magnet apparently got tired. It turns very very weakly. Never has come near water or anything but counter and a wipe and never even put carafe in dishwasher coz I was afraid to take the coating off. That's why I bought the first one with glass caraffe. Kids broke it in sink. Why does all our stuff we work so hard for last such short time and we throw it in landfill and have to work hard to buy another. For the price of my espresso pods. and the two brothers and two Dolce Gusto machines, I may as well stop and pay the $4/day for a latte at DD

Are they using a cheaper motor now?
I hate to rate this 3 stars. I love this frother. BUT. I've now had three of them. The first one lasted a year or maybe two, and that seemed acceptable. But the last two I've bought have only lasted a few months. They must be using a cheaper motor now. For the price, I think I'll have to find some other option this time. Sorry Capresso!

See All The Five-Star Reviews?
They will all disappear over time, because the machines simply do not last. Three Capresso machines broke down on me in just a few years I only use them once a day and follow all maintenance instructions. Why am I so dumb to buy three? Because they work great at first. You love them. And when they inevitably break down I tell myself I must have gotten a defective unit. I'm the one who's defective for buying this crap over and over.

It's a quick fix but that's all.
I thought I would like this thing and I do to some degree but, it doesn't heat the milk the way I would like it to. That results in a different tasting coffee than I am accustomed to. I am Puerto Rican and we cook the milk by boiling it. That is why our coffee is so good. I got my first taste of coffee at the age of 2 and I am 60 years old now. So, I am something of an expert, I think. The steamer of a cappuccino machine is perfect for getting the milk to an appropriate temperature but, this is not. If you find Keurig to be a good coffee maker then you might like this. As for me, I am more demanding and I want and expect more and better than that. It does have it's place in the world but, not in mine.

Does a great job for a limited period of time until it quits working
This was my second Capresso frother. They work very well wile they work, but the life span is very short. The first died after a little over one year and the second just died at less than 2.5 years. While the lifespan is short, during the period before they fail, this is the best freestanding frother I've used. Pluses include: (a) automatic production of a good, dense foam, (b) foaming cup is dishwasher safe, and (c) a "backup" foaming disc is provided (although, both of the machine's I've had failed prior to the need to use the backup foaming disc). In sum, does a great job for a short period of time. If you can get comfortable with adding to the supply of non-biodegradable landfill on a regular basis, it is a great choice.

Purchased this 8 months ago n loved it, however
Purchased this 8 months ago n loved it, however...only giving 2 stares because coating in cup is chipping off. Have only used to froth milk or make cocoa, always washed by hand. It froths well but don’t want Teflon coating in my milk😞😡

quality control issue
I just ordered the plus version of this machine, which I hope is a better product. First, the positive attributes. Removable pitcher. Just about every other milk frother I looked at is a single integrated unit, and it's really easy to destroy the electronics if you happen to get water in the base. It's really difficult to clean these well, without immersing underwater, so a bit of a catch 22. So, the fact that this has a removable pitcher is a really nice plus. I can say is also very easy to remove the frothing spring, so quite easy to clean. The size of the pitcher is more than adequate for plenty of product, at least two complete servings, if not more. The base is solid and doesn't move around. The negatives: This is supposed to come with two discs, I only received one. There is supposed to be a hot setting, a warm setting and then cold setting. The hot setting and warm setting produce identical results on the unit I received. Somewhere around 112 and 115° as measured by a very precise $100 ( nearly instant read) thermometer. If the handle does not face the front of the machine it seems to make a lot of noise (easily remedied by rotating the handle to the front). It's still annoying that it's that particular in this regard.Somewhere in the literature I read 90 seconds to produce heated froth, but the machine I received seem to take quite a bit longer. I did not actually time it but it seemed like 3 min. Quite a long time compared to other machines I've used. So, it almost seemed like I got a lemon. I decided to order the "plus" version as on the other three machines I've owned the Teflon eventually wears off. A different material seem to make sense. I still like the design of the removable pitcher, and hoping the temperature settings and time will work on the new one. As I said, I think I just got a lemon, as other reviews do not mention these issues.
