Wonderful book for our 3 yr old Grandson who loves the Royals!!!
This book is great fun for a young Royals fan! Our 3 yr old grandson is a Royals fan, just like Daddy and Papa! The book talks about the excitement of the postseason games in 2014 that saw the Royals get into the postseason with a crazy wildcard win, American League Championship series win and go to the World Series for the first time in 29 years! The Royals lost unfortunately but the fans never gave up on them! The Royals ballplayers are illustrated as lions...the Royals mascot at Kauffman Stadium is a lion named Sluggerrrrr! Fun book! Since the Royals had a fabulous season, and crazy postseason to get back to the World Series in 2015 and win, I hope the author will write another book telling of how the team "Took The Crown" 👑

Must have for any Royals fan, with or without kids!
Bought this partly for my 2 boys (3 and 5 years old) as a new bedtime story, and mostly for me as a long time Royals fan. It is a terrific book, and an amazing retelling of the Wildcard Game from the Royals incredible 2014 Playoff run. The illustrations are terrific and funny, and the book itself has some great tongue-in-cheek moments for adults, while keeping a terrific poetic flow through the story. It gave me chills as it developed through and described the different moments of the Wildcard game. I'll probably ask my kids to let me read this to them more often than they'll ask me to read it! Would be a great buy for any Royals fan, with or without kids.

cute
very cute book for Royals fans! it is not about the world series win in 2015 though.. it is mainly about the wild card game win in 2014.

Delightful book for any Royals fan!
I was excited to see this book on amazon, and I ordered it right away. It did not disappoint! I was fortunate enough to attend that Wild Card game, and I got goosebumps reading through the book and remembering that incredible night. Both the rhyming story and the pictures are really cute and I've already read it to my kids several times - and we just got it this morning! Our baby was with us that night, and although she won't remember the game, I love that I'll be able to read her this story and tell her that she was there.

Great gift for a Royals fan
I bought this book The Night the World Turned Royal Blue as a gift for a family member who has been a Kansas City Royals fan all his life. He was born in 1985 - the year the Royals last did well. Now that they are doing great, this was a perfect gift. The story, written by a Royals player, is a great grown-up story book, detailing the rise back to greatness. The artwork is enchanting, just as the story is. This is a great gift for your Royals fan.

Love this book and the illustrations are SO cute
Love this book and the illustrations are SO cute! Always read reviews before buying, folks. I knew this book was about the 2014 ALCS game (and not the 2015 WS), but I know some people didn't know until the book showed up. I bought three of them, one for each set of nieces and nephews for Christmas. Definitely a good addition to any little Royals fan's collection. :) Can't wait for the World Series book! If there's a preorder list I will definitely be on it!

Amazing illustrations and clever writing make this a must have...
So, I don't have kids. But I had to have this book...the illustrations are amazing and the writing is very clever. Re-read it after the Royals won the world series and I was missing my boys in blue...Pick this up! If you have kids you can read it to them in their Royals onesie jersey and if you don't have kids you can leave it on the coffee table for all the other adults to pick up and enjoy. Go Royals! World Champions!

a must!
We bought this book for our daughters and as a birthday present and we are SO glad we did! It is so well-written and illustrated, and the last lines about the game 7 loss & hopefulness bring tears to my eyes every time. My dad (a huge Cardinals fan) read it and also got teary eyed on the last page- he said it reminded him of the Cards' game 7 World Series losses. A must-own book for any Royals or baseball fan.
