Chef review. Do not buy.
Worst scale I have ever used. I am a chef, and I know that Escali makes amazing scales. This is NOT one of them. It is cheaply made, and WILL NOT TARE CORRECTLY. This thing is a POS pain in the A. Don't purchase this piece of garbage.

A perfectly accurate, easy-to-use, breeze-to-clean, all-around great kitchen scale
First thing I did upon unboxing is check the accuracy against a set of perfectly calibrated reference weights that I have from a lab at work. The Escali Arti is dead-on accurate... to the gram... from 50gm all the way up to 5,000 grams. Even moving the weights well off-center didn't upset the Arti. Tares perfectly. The seamless glass top makes for a clean look and is easy to keep clean while using and when cleaning-up after use. I'm using predominantly for baking... so flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, etc are all over the place. The only downside (if I had to find one) is that since the glass surface is contiguous from the weighing surface to where the buttons are... pressing any of the buttons while in the midst of weight something will cause the displayed weight to vary momentarily. I only really noticed this because I was playing around with all the functions. In practical usage I wouldn't be switching between units while in the middle of weighing something, so not really an issue. The displayed weight returns quickly to the correct number within a moment or so.I chose the "Shiny Silver" color as it was the cheapest... but it actually looks great. Almost a stainless steel look that goes well with the rest of the kitchen appliances. Wife and I decided it looks so nice we'll keep it out on the counter; it's thin enough to just lean it up again the wall behind the knife block. Having it handy at all times will make it even more useful than if we had to root around a cabinet looking for it whenever needed.Overall, very happy with the purchase.

Looks cool. Not functional.
I hate this scale. It looks cool. It’s accurate. But the tare function is a pain- you tap it lightly and nothing happens, hard and it screws the measurement up... there’s no light. A large plate hides the reading. I bought this because I thought it could replace my old oxo (that was fine just didn’t look cool)- but no. And the batteries are already dead after 2 months of use. Back to my Oxo.

Came internally broken or something
I was so excited to receive this scale. I had read the reviews, and I thought that what I would be getting would be good for the price. I was wrong. From day one the scale read incorrectly, refused to tare, and showed the weight jumping significantly (anywhere from 3-100 grams from what it actually was) despite the fact that I hadn't added any additional weight. I thought "oh, maybe the batteries are just dead". So I bought some new batteries for it, popped them in, and hoped for the best. They didn't work, so I tried two more new ones. Nothing. Finally I knew that something was just wrong with the scale, fresh out of the box. Looks great, easy to clean, but when it doesn't do it's job, what's the point?

Erratic readings
What stinks is the return policy is only for 30 days. Here it is 40 days since purchased and now no longer reliable or returnable. Label on back says made in China. I used it for baking bread and rolls. When you weight something, it doesn't always return to "zero" when you remove the dough from the scale. What gives?? Other times you add water to the mix bowl and then tare out before adding flour. Sometimes, but not always; it would "zero out" upon adding the flour. Finally, when the bulk weight of the dough is 1,200 grams; and you want to form 12 rolls you should make all the rolls 100 grs. Lately, the last roll is light about 50 grs. And Amazon doesn't stand behind what they sell. BOO!

Cannot be trusted.
I purchased this scale in April, 2020. I have used it long enough, and with enough disappointment, that I'm comfortable reviewing it. The scale has many positive features, which I like enough it was hard to decide to retire it and go back to what I was using before. I love the long bed, the ease of cleaning, the ease of reading. The HOLD feature is great. The problem is that it is too easy to accidentally reset it. Too often have I been in the middle of measuring a series of ingredients, to look down in mid addition of an ingredient to see that the weight has returned to zero. It has happened to me several times now, and I'm giving up on it. It just takes the slightest brush. It doesn't even have to be a hand. could be a trailing edge of a dishrag. Often I don't even know what triggered it. Too bad because otherwise the design is great.

Nice scale -- uniform touch pads keep it simple
For years I've used small scales like this, two or three times a day. And because they get a lot of use, they tend to break down after a while. I think I go through about one a year, on average. Usually what happens is the covering of the buttons wear down and food or liquid end up getting in the electronics and gumming up the works. To prevent that from happening again (I hope), I bought this one - which has no buttons. The 'buttons' are touch sensors under the uniform flat glass top. This will definitely prevent my previous problem from occurring. The scale is accurate from what I can tell -- but my one pet peeve is the delay on the "tare" button. I tend to get moving pretty fast in the kitchen, and there's about a one-second delay between me touching the 'tare' button and the reading going to zero. It's not inaccurate, it's just a delay that slows me down a bit, because I don't want to set the next bowl on until the reading is 0.0. If that's all I have to complain about, I really don't have anything to complain about ... but to me, it's enough to knock off a star, which is to indicate that "I like it" instead of "I love it." At the same time, I'm grateful for it, as I no longer have to worry about button covers cracking from normal wear and tear.Low profile / doesn't take up much space. Cleans super easy. Recommended.

Happy with my purchase
Ordered the bamboo one. The other reviews scared me but I figured if it was that bad I could return it. I really like this scale! It looks very nice, is slim and compact (I keep it in a drawer when not in use). Easy to clean. I haven't had any issues with button presses, tares great, readable screen. I use it for measuring things like flour, sugar, etc when baking. No complaints so far, and have already recommended it to my friends.

Wonderful
I replaced my Cuisineart scale with this Escali. First it's a very nice tool, looks wonderful in the kitchen. I bake a great deal of breads and need accurate, easy to use, and something my old eyes can read. I put my 5Q KitchenAid mixing bowl on it and can still easily read and select buttons. The entire glass surface can be used to weigh. So if you have a "HUGE" bowl you can still use the scale. It has a wonderful hold function for that. Activate it, put your very large item on it, wait for the beep and it holds the weight to be read. Since the whole surface can be used to weigh, when you press one of the buttons the weight moves and then the action is performed. The tare function is a good example. After you press it the weight moves then zeros, not an issue at all, just different.I'm finding this scale to be a great tool for the kitchen. It has almost found a home on the counter top rather than the cupboard. You can't go wrong with the scale.

Fantastic scale
I use this for baking sourdough, as well as a million other things. This is my favourite scale, and I highly recommend it. It’s lasted much longer than many other scales I’ve tried, cleans easily, and has a fairly large surface for weighing foods. I don’t know how I didn’t have one of these for so long. Regular price is $40, sometimes the price is crazy high on Amazon - but good product!

Just OK - Overpriced and isn't perfect. Pros/Cons below
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. UPDATE: reduced rating to 2 stars as the scale started bouncing around more than normal fluctuating 2-4g after taring an item and removing it. It also was measuring air once the item was brought close to the scale but not rested upon it. See posted videoI have a feeling a return will be in the near future as it's evident the accuracy is starting to waver.Overall an ok scale.CONS: A bit overpriced. Wish the display was backlit. The tare button isn't always responsive... just be sure that your item is tared before adding weight. The accuracy of measurement can bounce around by a gram or two but it's consistently off by only that amount and settles after a few seconds - because of this... I frequently have to re-tare items BC it will read -1g or 1g after removing a tared item. I sometimes need to re-tare between unit changes as well. These cons are mild inconveniences...none of which are deal breakers for me thus reflecting my 3star rating.PROS: The Hold button is nice and the scale doesn't quickly auto turn off like most other scales that are 2-3 min( stays of for 5 min) The accuracy of measurement registers minimum 2g ( could be lower but BC of the +/- 1g bouncing mentioned above... I don't trust reading lower that 5g. The max load is 7kg which is great when I tare pots/pans/ glass bowls. Measures both FL. Oz and ml! Is pretty and while thin, is not ultra thin. Has a nice reflecting glass top and the navy blue colour is true with sparkle. That sparkle is not over the top or gotti either. Easy to clean with alcohol or disinfecting wipes.I may or may not keep this as it's within the first month of frequent daily use for macros tracking. Purchased as a replacement since my other scale stopped reading accurately and continuously bounced in readings, never settling. Hope that doesn't happen with this one.CAUTION... I wouldn't place items containing very hot or very cold foods directly on the scale as it might affect the sensors and I think that happened with my old scale (diff. brand) resulting in off measurements. I just place a silicone rubber mat on the scale, tare, then measure my hot or cold item to be safe.

Buttons suck
Not a good scale at all. The touch buttons suck and you have to press them like 5 times for it to register. At first I thought the scale was defective so I got a new one sent and then the second one was the exact same. So yeah it's just low quality buttons but accurate scale if your patience is high.
