Great Bible.

Great study bible.
I have had a Thompson chain reference bible for about thirty years and it is still holding up. After such a long time, I bought this one. What a difference. The pages are so thin that if you lightly highlight, as I like to do, it soaks through to the other side of the page. Very sad. I saw many other comments with this same problem. If you are one who prefers to not mark any scriptures, then it is great. For those who like to highlight with yellow, it isn't so great. You choose.

Thompson Study Bibles are the BEST!
Why? Because rather than use somebody's opinion about a biblical idea, the Bible uses the scriptures to define the word. Outstanding word searches in a chain of references, from the first time the word is used in the Bible to the last time by the use of marginal references. King James Version is the ONLY version to buy (because it hasn't been tampered by man's cognitive abilities, but written through God's inspiration of the scriptures.I only give this one a four because I gave it as a gift, and the recipient hasn't responded to me thanking me for the Bible.

Great reference Bible
Great reference Bible. Only drawback is bulk & weight. Wanted the "handy size" but these ol' eyes can't deal with 6 pt type. Very satisfied. My old Bible was in tatters (reflecting more on it's quality of binding rather than the usage it's had). Hope this one lasts as well (though I likely won't need it as long - I'm almost 78, so I expect this one to last for the duration).

It was used but in great condition. No markings what so ever
Purchased as a birthday gift. My friend loves the bible. She was so surprised. It was used but in great condition. No markings what so ever. It had someone else name on it but she just put it in a cover. She didn't care about the name. She is enjoying what's inside.

Thompson Chain Reference
This is the best study bible out there to me. I was put on to this bible by a minister friend. He was so right, scripture should interpret scripture. That is what you get with a Thompson Chain bible. I would recommend this bible to everyone out there. I bought the bonded leather. It looks good and has a very strong binding. Of course if I had the money I would have rather had a leather.

It is a great reference bible
The size of it was not what I thought it was going to be, but yet it met my expectations. It is a great reference bible.

A splendid Bible with invaluable study aids.
This book is a classic, and has been highly recommended by two ministers well known to me.I had intended to get Morocco leather for the cover, but the bonded leather should last as long as I do, so I'm not worried about that. If I were giving it as a gift, I would choose Morocco, but that is much more expensive. But it is leather, which is essential for preaching, or for private daily reading, which is a must for spiritual growth, or even spiritual survival. A hard cover would have worn out long ago, my previous Bible is bonded leather, and the binding has only recently begun to fail. Leather becomes more flexible with age, as the natural oils within the skin soften it and stop it cracking. The paper is very thin, and has to be , unless it become thicker and heavier than would be maneageble, since 30% of the volume comes after the end of Revelation. It has a slight tendency to concertina, so has to be handled with care, but the paper has a lovely silken feel to it.Some copies of Thompson have thumb tabs, a great help when looking for Obadiah or Nahum! this one doesn't.So much for the practical points. The doctrinal and theological issues need to be addressed next.Ther are a great many appendices, including the chain references themselves, which are the distinctive feature, and without which a Bible user can be inventing the wheel. The book analyses, character studies, maps, assume a fundamentalist approach which I am happy with. There are maps and diagrams, lives and journeys of the main characters, which are useful if not artistic. a chart of the 7 churches of Revelation gives a Protestant chronological interpretation of the churches, so that we see Thyatira as the Papal apostate church, and Philadelphia as the Reformation, whereas some of us would say Sardis is the Reformation churches that squandered their revelation, and Philadelphia is the modern remnant of believers. We have a detailed Harmony of the Gospels, and similar charts, which are invaluable, although there other, more specialist, works. This is also true of the concordance and glossary. A full concordance is larger than the Bible. The eponymous chains are the most helpful, more so than the traditional centre column cross-references, though to have both would be useful. They do, however, have a list of prophecies fulfilled in the life of the Lord Jesus, which is invaluable. But are the chains complete? I'm doing a study of Melchisedek. Hebrews contains 8 references to him, But chain no 2284, Mekchizedek, only gives you 3 of them. Perhaps a larger edition has them all, I don't know.To be fair, the original notes in Hebrews give you the parallel passage, marked pp. These pp references ar printed wherever they are relevant, and they are the quickest form of cros-reference, to different accounts of the same event, or the prohecy being cited (as Acts 8;32 on IS 53:7. And the study pages are a vast resource, which seems to have been added to over the years since it was first published in 1908.They are not fully indexed, but they repay a lot of browsing. You will be wandering through a treasury. To come to the main point of buying this Bible, it is a King James. People perished in the flames for it, especially Tyndale, on whose work much of the translation is based. The men who made the translation believed what they read. They didn't miss out key verses, such as Acts 8:37 and 1 John 5:8. If you find the language difficult, make the effort- the OT wasn't written in colloquial Hebrew either. It is, without a doubt, the Word of God.I shall come to love this edition. I have one caveat. There are actually two editions of th KJV, the Oxford and the Cambridge. The Oxford has different head-notes than the Cambridge. They tend to favour a Replacemt Theology reading, where the Church is supposed to be the true Israel. See, for example, the head-notes of Is 49- the restoration of the Church. Oxford has the Restoration of Israel. Beware of this, the actual text is the authentic King James, with the spelling modernised in the 18th century, whic is the one we are used to. Ignore the headnotes and you will be fine. If it had not been for this I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4.We are also spared the Epistle Dedicatory, which I am pleased about. The Bible is to glorify God, not man!

Fast shipping with Quality Goods
Shipped reasonably quickly, but what quality. If you bought a new one I donβt think you would have known the difference but what made this perfect was it came with its original box. And of course it was probably one of the best bibles in the world for its concordance.
