One of my best tools
I have had this for a few years now, finally got around to reviewing it. This thing is awesome. It has held up very well and the inserts haven't shown any deformation. I've left this to friends and they've had no issues using it, very intuitive. My only advice to make it easier is to use something to hold it for you. That way you can hold the item to be crimped, the wire, and pump the crimper. If ever need to I will buy it again, but hopefully I don't have to.

Works great for crimping onto large wires
I crimp compression lugs and Anderson SB-50 contacts onto 6 AWG and 8 AWG wire a fair amount. This tool does a nice job of that. Clamp it down enough to hold the crimp, insert wire, pump until it stops moving, done. When crimping a contact with extra space, it often ends up with pieces that get squished out sideways in between the dies. Sometimes they're big enough to be a problem, but they're easy to trim off.Takes a bit of experimenting to find the correct size dies for each kind of connector, because I have no idea what the numbers correspond to.

Works great!
This thing is great. We've used a lot of different tools to attach new terminals to cables, and this is definitely the favorite of everyone in the shop. It's so much smaller than leverage-based crimping tools, and the hydraulic cylinder really crushes stuff for a solid connection. My only complaint is the dies seem rather cheap, and sometimes will fall out of place. Nicer dies, perhaps with a detent retention method, would be a nice improvement. Otherwise, no complaints!

Great tool for the price.
Used this item to install cable railing. I used the #4 die for the cable ends and it was easy to use. Overall a great value for the price as it also comes with a bunch of dies and a nice case. I finished the project I was using it for and not sure if/when I will need it again so can comment on the durability.

Well made, does the crimp very good.
Very happy with this tool. Does what it says, very well. Only issue is that it is hard to hold the cable/thimble setup on thicker wires (1/4") due to the strength needed to actually pull the cable tight with a thimble in place, while trying to operate this tool to crimp. For this reason, the version of this that mounts to a desk would be better than this hand held one.. but that isnt a fault of the tool. A second set of hands or a good way to hold the cable in a vice might solve the problem.

Don't buy it.
I got this in the mail the other day, with the intention of making a couple of cables ranging from 4AWG to 10AWG. When it came, I was initially happy with it, as I gleefully crushed everything in my house that I could find that would fit in the jaws. It works quite well for that, despite being a little 'crunchy' in the lever action, suggesting that there's grit inside the mechanism. Then today came, and I had a chance to go out to the shop and use it for what it was intended for. I tried the first wire, a 4AWG, and none of the dies fit it properly. I wasted several cable ends and several pieces of wire trying to get a decent crimp, but all either didn't crimp tight at all or crimped too small, leaving 'ears' sticking out of the sides of the terminal. So I moved on to the next size, a 8AWG, and same thing. So I grabbed the last size I was going to use this for, a 10AWG, and nope, terrible crimps with that too.If their supplier cleaned the grit out of the mechanism before assembling this (I have no confidence in this lasting at all with how crunchy the action is) and sourced some American sized dies, this would be a good tool. But as it is, I do not recommend anyone buy it.

Worth. Every. Penny
Great tool for the price but, I do wish the dies were seated and didn't move so much

The tool itself seems to work pretty well. I just received it today and I like the fact it includes the case and an assortment of dyes. But upon opening the tool I noticed 2 tiny magnets, or what was supposed to be 2 tiny magnets to hold the dyes in place. One of which was fine, the other was broken in 3 pieces. So I have to hold the tool a certain way to keep one of the dyes from falling out. It's a bit of a let down. But it gets the job done and I much prefer it to the hammer style and big bolt cutter looking style crimps.
