KNIPEX95 21 165 Tools - Cable Shears, Spring (9521165)

Good quality shears, exactly what I'd expect from Knipex. The one thing I'd caution against is the max wire size advertised. I used it to cut #2 awg stranded copper, and it barely was able to cut that. It might make it through #1/0 gauge if you have forearms like Popeye, but I sure wouldn't want to try it.

Very nice cutters

I am a commercial/industrial electrician and lately I've been searching for a better tool for cutting AND stripping aluminum clad MC/BX cable. I've always felt like there must be a better tool for the job than diagonal cutters which take a lot of force and leverage to cut through MC. I purchased the Klein BX cutting shears (1104) with high hopes and while they work pretty well, they don't always make a complete cut all the way through the cable. The Knipex cutters do a much better job of cleanly shearing through the entire cable. While these Knipex cable shears are only about 6 inches long, they cut with much less effort than even an 8 inch pair of diagonal cutters. This puts much less strain on the users wrist after a long day of use. The nose of the cutters is also able to get under the jacket of the MC for stripping off the outer aluminum casing leaving a nice clean edge without nicking the condutcors underneath. This overall makes this a fantastic tool for MC and BX rough-in jobs. It is important to note that cutting steel clad MC/BX cable will likely destroy the tool so its crucial to be aware of what you are cutting. Of course these also excell at cutting small to medium sized copper and aluminum conductors as intended. The Knipex cable shears are an extremely versatile tool while also being compact and lightweight and have found a permanent place in my tool pouch. I highly recommend these cutters as well as Knipex as a brand. They make the best hand tools available in my experience.

Locking feature is a plus and blades nice and sharp

This was the first KNIPEX branded tool that I have purchased, and after purchasing these I will certainly be purchasing more. Typically, my go-to brands for tools are Wera, Wiha, and occasionally Snap-On or Channellock. I purchased these to cut LMR-400 style cable, and it's right at the limit for these cable shears. Even with that being the case, I've been so impressed with these that I'll probably purchase the next size up. The tolerances and grind on the cutting edges is nothing short of excellent, the handles are comfortable and well formed, and I don't anticipate these leaving my set of tools any time soon. Absolute pleasure to work with these tools, clearly manufactured by a company that knows what they're doing and who their audience is. Great job KNIPEX!

if used for its intent its a excellent product

I've got other wire cutters, and another pair of cable shears, but I needed something to handle the larger gauge wire and larger cables. Since Knipex is pretty much my go-to brand, I bought these. And they are great. I've had no trouble at all with these, and they make my job so very much easier. Recently I had to replace the main breaker coming into my house. The utility tech had to pull the meter and open things up, but I had to replace the breaker while he stood by. One wire was welded into the old breaker, and wouldn't come out. When I pulled these shears out to cut the wire, the utility tech said "Oh, those are too ..." and then he stopped as I effortlessly cut through the wire with one hand. (Then he borrowed them to look them over.)

Great wire cutters. This is my second pair. Easy one Handed operation. I have used many different types of pliers and these hands down are the best. From #18 gauge to #3 perfect for stripping wire

Great tool. Nice clean cuts... Just be sure your finger doesn't sneak down into the space at the front of the handles... it pinches really well and works better than coffee!

With a Knipex no complaints. Works well as all their tools do!

Great tool! Cut very easely any electric cable of plastic wire. The cuted tip is very clean (not crushed as with regular cuter) I love them. But do NOT atemps at any time to cut steel, as it will chip the edge and they will never feel the same...
