I just threw away two more pH meters. I'm done with meters. I'm happy with the pH testing strips. It's less hassle. I don't have to calibrate paper or wonder if the paper is accurate like the meters.

AT FIRST I THOUGHT THEY DIDN'T WORK - TESTED MY SALIVA AND NO REACTION. AS IT TURNS OUT MY SALIVA WAS VERY NEUTRAL - A GREAT ADVANTAGE! I TESTED AFTER EATING PORTUGUESE SAUSAGE (GREAT LOCAL HAWAIIAN BRAND - VERY DELICIOUS AND "LOCAL" PORK - NOT SHOT FULL OF ANTIBIOTICS AND HORMONES!) - TESTED A VERY QUICK 8 ON THE COLOR SCALE. I GOT THESE FOR GARDEN SOIL TESTING - METERS ARE WAY OVERKILL AS MOST PLANTS HAVE A RANGE OF 0.75 TO 1.0 EITHER SIDE OF "OPTIMUM", WHICH IS GREATLY DEPENDENT ON SPECIFIC NEEDS OF A VARIETY AND OTHER SOIL CONDITIONS LIKE ORGANIC MATTER, DRAINAGE, ABSENCE OR PRESENCE OF NUTRIENTS, ETC. A PLANTS OPTIMUM pH WILL VARY DEPENDING ON THESE OTHER CONDITIONS. NATURE HAS A WIDE EMBRACE UNTIL THINGS GET SERIOUSLY OUT OF ORDER, THAN DISASTER STRIKES SWIFTLY.

I used these to measure the acidity in vinegar I made. And I mean, they work, but it’s truly hard to tell if the color on the strip is because of the acid or because of the color of the liquid (this was raspberry vinegar). Perhaps this is a problem with a strip and not some sort of device, but I found these to be more of a guessing game than I expected. Still I felt that the vinegar seemed alright (the strip didn’t turn blue) so I bottled it and went on to make delicious dressings. So these work but they are certainly more of a guessing game than I’d like. For the money, I think it’s a good deal and maybe this will work better for folks not testing already colored solutions

I just started making soap and wanted to make sure the soap I am giving to friends and family is safe to use. These strips were inexpensive and are very easy to use! They seem to be pretty accurate. Haven't had any irritation from any of the soaps that has tested within the usual range. Will definitely buy again!!!

It is hard to tell exactly which pH a solution is because the paper is yellow. I think I am going to try and order a different type next time.

I got this to test my homemade gesso and hand mixed paints. I do a lot of mixed media art on a big variety of materials. Having a ph neutral from homemade stuff is rather critical. Acid destroys art in a very short amount of time. It was tricky to understand the chart. However, I figured it out after I tested vinegar for acid, tap water for something close to neutral, and baking soda mixed with water for the base. I am a geek, but hey I save money that way. It works for what I needed it for. It will be critical when I start working with coffee art. Coffee is beautiful for painting with, but is it ever problematic with paper.

You get a lot of test strips for a very little amount of money -- excellent value!I don't have a known accurate pH meter to compare these test strips to so I can't comment on their accuracy. However, I created an acid bath and sure enough, the strips said it was acidic. After I was done using the bath I neutralized it with a base and this was reflected in subsequent testing as well. I also tested our tap water which is from a well and it was about 9 which seems reasonable. I would trust these strips for projects where you don't need precision (in which case you probably shouldn't be using testing strips anyway).

It does not seem to work. The strips remained the same yellow. No change at all.
