4k needs HDMI 2.0a ports. The specs do not say about HDMI 2.0, most likely the 4k source should be directly connected to the 4k TV, bypassing this bose system

Q: Can I still simply watch tv without using this unit at times, or does it have to be on for simple tv watching?

Hello Eric-K. Great question. Once you have connected all of your sources through the Bose system, you would need to have the Bose system on for audio or video from TV. Thanks!

Hi Eva,The Acoustimass 6 V system is a 5 speaker home theater system that you connect to a 3rd party receiver. The SoundTouch 120 is a sound bar system. If you are looking for a true home theater sound the Acoustimass 6 V system is the way to go. The SoundTouch 120 system will definitely do a great job at reproducing a home theater sound though if you don't want the wires. Thanks for the question!
