Great All Around compromise between Gaming and Everyday Use
This VA Monitor AKA Sceptre C248B-144RK fits my upgrade needs perfectly. The price was right at $138 and thanks to CamelCamelCamel, I waited until the right moment to make the purchase. Since this replaces a 15 year old monitor the quality difference is both amazing and not worth mentioning. VA Monitors are a compromise between the gaming IPS models and the older TN panels that have strong latency characteristics but not good angle viewing and poorer color repro. I am not a gamer so the curved models appeal to me and I only require one. If a gamer, than three would be ideal for the curve around. IPS models have lower latency (4ms) than TN (1ms), but better contrast. This VA monitor combines a compromise between both. 120 to 144Hz is nice. Of course true gamers want to spend much for an ultrawide, but not me. There are other priorities for $700. Also, FreeSync, is on AMD’s "open technology". It doesn’t use a chip. Instead, it relies on a technology called Adaptive Sync that’s built into the DisplayPort standard. You also have to use DisplayPort (not HDMI) to take advantage of it. Again not an issue for me since I am not a gamer, but if it was I would change my port connection. For some "screen tear" is an issue when gaming. All in all this is a very nice monitor that brings the best in a low priced compromise.

An excellent gaming monitor for the price
The Spectre C248B is an excellent monitor for the price. I was skeptical about buying this monitor because the reviews for it were a mixed bag. However, nearly all gaming monitors on Amazon within the price range $120 - $140 price range appear to have very mixed reviews, so I decided to gamble on this monitor. The result was a great monitor that performs exactly how you would expect it to given its specs and pricing. The monitor arrives with everything you need to set it up including a screwdriver, so there is nothing you need to purchase for set up. The curve of the monitor yields for a slightly more immersive gaming experience, but not enough to be a major selling point. The picture quality is vibrant and clear with no visible pixels, and 144hz provides a high performance gaming experience that is certainly more noticeable if coming form a lower Hz setting such as 60 or 75.A few tips to ensure you get the best out of this monitor:1) Use an HDMI 2.0 or higher, a display port, or a Dual Link DVI-D port for your GPU to monitor connection (a display port is included in the box), as it is necessary for 144Hz.2) Make sure you manually change the refresh rate of you monitor to 144Hz in the advanced display settings for Wndows.3) Enable FreeSync in the monitor settings if using an AMD Radeon GPU.4) Enable FreeSync, Radeon Anti-Lag, Radeon Image Sharpening, and Radeon Enhanced Sync in the AMD Radeon Software for your GPU if applicable.5) Update to the graphics settings of your games to accommodate your new monitor.6) Make sure you opt for the monitor to arrive in Amazon packing during checkout to ensure your monitor is protected during shipping.

AWESOME if you want to transition from 60hz to a 144hz monitor at 1080p
I was shopping for an affordable 1080 144hz monitor because I have using my TV for gaming at 60hz for so long and the input lag doesn't help me become more competitive. I didn't really give any care to transition for awhile because I felt that it was just all a gimmick and I'd be sacrificing the real estate of my 39inch tv, and I was dead wrong!I researched and looked at different monitors and there is a lot of good monitors out there, I decided to give spectre another go because I had purchased a 1080p 70hz monitor already with them same 24inch size and the quality on that was already really good. Plus this monitor is the cheapest I have seen when I was looking. The quality on this monitor is superb, the stand is all metal so it adds to stability. From the curve of the monitor to the screen everything looks so good. The picture quality and video quality is outstanding do not let the brand deter you spectre is a good brand! If you have been thinking of switching to a 144hz and want to utilize your GPU you will not regret this decision, playing games has been so much more of a better experience as everything runs so smooth like silky smooth. If you have never experienced 144hz up to 240hz I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you give it a try because there is CLEARLY a difference.

Great 144hz monitor for people who value performance above quality
I love the smoothness this monitor brings. It feels sturdy enough, it is very easy to assemble especially with the included screwdriver, and the bezels are much slimmer than my old 60hz monitor.PROS:VERY CHEAP144hzComes with required cablesComes with screwdriverCONS:Colors are meh, and took a lot of fiddling with settings for me to not notice issues.Backlight-80Brightness-50Contrast-50Red-45Green-43Blue-50Gamma-2.4These are by no means any professional color calibration, they're just what I've found to be acceptable for my use.I had an issue with coronas/inverse ghosting when I first got the monitor, at this point I don't even notice anymore unless I am specifically looking for them. I don't believe it affects my gameplay, and hey, it's a small price to pay for such a low-cost monitor.Potential issue:For some reason after I got this monitor, tabbing in and out of certain games, ex. Overwatch gave me a lot more issues while other games were almost immediate. Overwatch for instance takes a full few seconds of black screen and it flashes my 2nd monitor, while games like Fortnite or Team Fortress 2 are just a little blip as I tab back in. This could just be my system though, so your mileage may vary.
