There is no battery but this is a great radio and the best thing is the price is really good on Amazon if you're into ham radio this is one of the best radios you can buy, still modifiable and that won't be around for long you should grab one while you can

Good looking radio
This is a professional radio, is a little heavy, controls are fine but not intuitive*, comes with all you need including power and extra cables, metal rack support and the screws. Only transmits HAM bands, sounds good, easy to install, this a practical device, don't expect too much cool features, but it makes the job.

very good
It works very well. I first purchased this FT-857D in Fall of 2014.It has been reliable and a lot of fun to learn and use. It is somewhat complicated and annoying at first but I got used to it. Now it's old hat.It's been suitcased off and on for foxhunts, it's been "permanently" mounted & unmounted several times over the years. Hardy har har ham.
