Adam Segal's recipes are easy to cook, delicious to eat, and have the added benefit of being full of healthy ingredients. I especially love his creative and varied salads that encourage me to add some new flavors to my own standard fare. His desserts--yes, we need those!--have less sugar than many recipes, but are sumptuous anyway. At Adelynrood, he serves smaller yet satisfying portions of these, whereas every other course is in abundance, a fine recipe for living well! Adam's opening essay about his life-long love for food and cooking, and its connection to a healthy and spirit-filled lifestyle at Adelynrood, the retreat and conference center where his kitchen thrives, is so well written and worth reading apart from the recipes. The photographs of Adelynrood offer a small glimpse into a charming, rustic, home-away-from-home for hundreds of people every summer. With this cookbook, I can enjoy Adam's tasty food all winter long.

I have just received this magnificent and beautiful cookbook. The author's preface is a poetic ode to life and service to others. Although I rarely do much ambitious cooking anymore, the straight forward recipes in this book will go a long way toward encouraging me to, once again, approach the stove, oven and chopping block. The pictures are gorgeous; the selection of recipes is well-rounded, practical and enticing. The salads are outstanding. I can't wait to get to the kitchen!Joyce Vivian

This book is so beautifully produced. The photos are gorgeous. Not only do they beautifully represent the food, but they also evoke the atmosphere of Adelynrood. I was once a visitor and I am so pleased that the chef has now shared his recipes. It was honestly the best food I have had when on a "vacation."

Adam Segal's Adelynrood cookbook is a wonderful source of four star recipes, but it is also much more. His preface indicates what is to come, namely a meditation on food and life. Each recipe is introduced by some words about where it came from, what it is, and what it means. Adelynrood is a beautiful religous retreat in the woods of northeastern Massachusetts. This book clearly demonstrates that it's a special place and that Adam Segal is so much a part of its spritual mission. Any of the top restaurants in the world could craft three or four menus from this book. This is Alice Waters and Thomas Keller territory. The book puts in all together in a seamless offering of truly outstanding food, meditations on the meaning of it all, and beautiful photography of the place and the food. I have never read a more creative and original cookbook, even from the named celebrity chefs.

Adam Segal is a magnificent chef and a wonderful writer! It is a real joy for me to add this beautiful book to my kitchen library. "Offerings from Adelynrood's Kitchen" is full of real recipes that real people can make and enjoy in their own home. And the pictures of the food and Adelynrood Retreat & Conference Center are honest-to-goodness eye candy!
