Simple, good message
I like that this simple tale teaches patience, faith and trust.I did not care for the doubt the parents raised and the lack of faith they displayI retell the story to my prereaders as ‘they asked the boy, ‘When will your carrot grow?’” and the boy replies, ‘I don’t know, but I will wait and see’.

A bit bummed
Checked this book out from the local library and fell in love with the story. Decided to buy online for my little ones but was sad to see it was a bit banged up. If it was just to rate the story, I’d give it a 5 star. I decided to give it a 3 star because it’s disappointing to purchase something brand new and it doesn’t come in brand new condition. Other than that, I am happy with my order.

This was used as illustration in a sermon & I can see why because it shows a child's trust and faith. Parents should read with child for teaching lesson.

Good message for the soul
Contains an excellent message that speaks to the subconscious that all desires are possible if you hold the faith and ignore or dispel doubts of others. I first heard of this book from a Neville Goddard channel and gift it to friends who have babies or toddlers. Also this book is short for the caretaker who may be tired lol

Sweet little story book
This is an adorable book with the sweetest story. I don't think I read this one as a kid but the drawings are done by the same illustrator as Harold and The Purple Crayon, which I loved as a kid. This book has simple graphics and bold colors, great for little ones. My 18 month old loves it and asks to read it many times a day.

Fun Lesson to be learned
I remember this in song form from when I was a child, many many years ago. It's a great book to teach persistence in the face of doubt and discouragement. If you can find the tune for the song it is catchy and a good one for children to learn. The words are different than the book but they are a great companion. You can hear a part of the song at The Kiddie Rekord King. Click on Music Library. You will see several record covers in the middle of the page. Find #6 and click on it. It has a speaker to click on to hear about a minute of the song. I highly recommend this book as well.

The granddaddy of all picture books in America
In his essay "Ruth Krauss and Me," author Maurice Sendak says "that perfect picture book, The Carrot Seed, the granddaddy of all picture books in America, a small revolution of a book that permanently transformed the face of children's book publishing. The Carrot Seed, with not a word or a picture out of place, is dramatic, vivid, precise, concise in every detail. It springs fresh from the real world of children."This is a timeless classic that has been known and loved by children and parents for years.A young boy is told by his parents, competition and his big brother that his carrot will not grow. After a long time of pulling weeds, watering and patience the carrot finally grows, and it is huge. The author Ruth Krauss was born in 1901 is also the author of A Hole Is To Dig; I'll Be You and You Be Me; Charlotte and the White Horse; and many other childrens classics.

I love this book
I love this book. I am a big fan of Crocket Johnson's Harold and the Purple Crayon books. This one is much simpler and shorter, but has a great moral to it. My daughter likes the book. It is quite short and simple though, so definitely more appropriate for younger children.

Plant a seed, water, and wait, and it will flourish. Children believe.
No one really thinks this child’s carrot seed will grow, from his parents to his older brother. Spoiler alert - it does! Just wish I could have included the 78 record that came with it in the early 50’s.

If you've never read this, buy it!
My kids fought over this book for thirty years, they still nick it from each other's houses and read it to their own kids. For some reason it hits just the right spot for anyone from two to forty two. When they hit 52 I'll update.

Carrot seed
A very simple book, with basic illustrations and only a few words per page -ideal for two to three year olds who like the repetitiveness and predictability of the story.
