KEENMen's Arroyo 2 Sandal

Nice sturdy sandal with a higher than usual heel.
This Arroyo li is a nice sandal, my only complaint is it is slightly small in the toe box area, but i do have a broadfoot. My advice, go for the newport if like me you have a wide foot, the newport is an excellent sandal, i have 3 pairs.i alternate them to even the wear and tear, they are so comfortable, but i thought i would try these as they are closed back and i can fit my special orthotic footbeds in them that is the main reason.Apart from this it's a great sandal for standard size feet, so i won't mark it down for that.Just an update, after wearing for a couple of weeks they have loosened up nicely especially in the toe box area, this was my initial gripe when i first got them, i wore socks with them because they was rubbing on my small toe but this seems to have alleviated and i realise i can wear a sock with them or bare foot as i think fit. This has come in handy as they dont look out of place with socks like an open sandal, and great for winter months with jeans, so have upgraded one star to five stars.

ALWAYS GOOD.
These sandals are very robust and extremely comfortable. The only brand of footwear that come anywhere near the quality I am looking for. I would give 6 stars if I could.

Great shoe when modified
I ordered these to replace a similar pair of leather Teva sandals, which performed very well for years but no longer seem to be available. I bought these leather Keen sandals size 9 1/2 as I wanted to wear socks with them. Put them on and my feet were slipping out of the back. I thought it must be a size issue so ordered size 9. Put them on and my feet were still slipping out of the back even though there was much less room. Too little room, in fact. I sent the size 9 back. I looked around for a comparable shoe of another brand but couldn't find anything I liked. Just for a test I took the insole out of the Keen 9 1/2 sandals and, lo and behold, my feet sat comfortably and didn't slip out. More than that, they are very comfortable. I put in a thin Clarks leather insole (size 11 fitted perfectly??) and now they are great to wear.

Keen are great but their sizes vary!
Loved my first pair of Keens last year but found them (the Clearwater CX) a bit thin soled for my only holiday pair of sandals making for tired feet - so bought these bulkier ones. They already feel really comfortable.BUT - oddly, I had to buy a whole half size smaller since the UK size 9 in the Newport was so much bigger than the UK size 9 in the Clearwater. And even the 8.5 leaves me with plenty of room - I could possibly have even tried the 8 but I like loose shoes. Anyway - have a look at the pics too and you’ll see how extreme this is. The Newports are the dark ones and, honestly, don’t they look slightly bigger than the light grey/yellow Clearwaters despite the label on them saying the opposite? I know sizes vary a bit between manufacturers but this is the same manufacturer and the same kind of shoe. One explanation might be that I noticed the Newports were made in Vietnam and the Clearwaters in Cambodia. Maybe the Vietnamese have bigger feet!?Anyway the main point is - do double check your size when buying Keens. They’re great sandals but their sizing is rather inconsistent.

A quality product
This is a very good quality pair of walking sandals, made with high quality materials. In my opinion, the fit is more suitable for narrow feet and, for wider feet, needs higher ankle and heel support to ensure greater stability. The Amazon 'Try Before you Buy' scheme is immensely helpful in enabling customers to make an informed decision.

Comfort.
Bought these as a replacement to previous version. Which recently started to fall apart.Bought for a trip to Rome. 1st pair ordered were too big. But ordered same size as all my other keen footwear. Returned and ordered 1/2 size down. Still a little on the large size. But if you prefer to wear socks with your sandals then I guess would be ok.Anyway, out of the box to Rome. 40k’s over 3 days and great. No blisters etc. just comfort. So far so good. Hope they stand the test of time.

Inconsistent sizing and quality - will look for another manufacturer/model in the future.
I was SO dissapointed, that I decided to write a review, mainly to warn the others. To be fair for KEEN - this is an opinion of a person who's been through his 3rd pair of Arroyo 2, across past 10 years. So, if it's your first pair and (important!) you have a chance to try them before buying and you'll find them comfortable - you can ignore what I'm saying here. I'm biased, since when buying my 3rd pair, I was expecting the same comfort and feel as my previous pair. But, there were some changes that KEEN have introduced, making it a completely different sandal (for me).See pictures if you don't want to read the below, I tried to summarize it visually.Note - my old sandals I'm showing on pics are worn. So the height differences might be slightly exaggerated, but still - the changes completely ruined the comfort for me.1. Sizing - the 42.5 EU I ordered now (2022) doesn;t fit my - it's way to small and my foot feels cramped. It is so different, that you can actually visually notice it. So, I immediately ordered a 43 EU. And, guess what - it feels too big now, mainly due to the fact that they've also altered the insole base and put a thicker insole - see next point.2. Foot position/insole: as mentioned, there is now some white padding added to the base. It doesn't look like it's going to last as it has a hole already, from new, under the heel. The addition of this padding in combination with the thicker insole makes you foot sitting higher. Because of this, when you walk around, it makes you feel like your sandal will fall of from your heel. It also feels unstable. Conclusion - I kept the 43 EU pair, as I needed something for an upcoming holiday. I replaced the insole with a thinner one, which helped a bit, but it still feels uncomfortble.Note - my partner (size 37 EU) had the EXACT the same reservations with her new 2022 pair. But she decided to ditch them completely as she didn't want to risk blisters. In her opinion these changes completely ruined the whole "it feels like you're not wearing any sandals" comfort that we used to have in past with Arroyo 2.
