Be Aware...
In my 04 Rav 4, I have a problem where the gas tank will overfill if I let the pump run until it stops automatically. When I get in the car the fuel gauge will show it is overfull, and the car will be hard to start. If you have a similar situation, be aware that overfilling the tank will cause some fuel to get into the Vapor Canister, which will damage it and make it wear out very quickly. If you are having to replace this part over and over again, it is important to discover what problem is causing it to break. Normally, this part will last for many years.

Fixes Codes P0442 and P0456
My wife’s Toyota RAV4 was sending out the P0442 and P0456 check engine codes so swapped this part and the codes went away. The swap took about an hour. The box is located underneath the car where the driver’s seat is located. It’s covered by a plastic splash guard that you have to remove first, after removing a few bolts (10mm or 11mm IIRC) you can remove the hoses by using vice grips on the clamps to slide them off. The trickiest part is removing a large plastic hose connector that isn’t included with the new part so you have to be careful not to break it. I ended up using a couple of flat head screwdrivers to depress the tabs holding the hose connector on so that I could slide the old one off. It’s not that difficult, but you do have to be careful not to break it since you have to reuse that connector. Then just bolt everything back into place, clear the codes (or drive long enough for the computer to reset them) and you’re good to go.
