Sony DCR-HC52 MiniDV Handycam Camcorder with 40x Optical Zoom (Renewed)

Received in excellent condition both physically clean and all functions working. Would have been nice to have a remote control included but that was not part of the deal, so no complaints.

I needed to capture some old minidv tapes which I had captured, edited and recorded back to minidv tapes which via FireWire. What happens is that the camcorder that I used was purchased in 1999, and already had some head alignment issues, which either completely botched the FireWire capture, or required that I manually applied pressure at a precise spot and direction on the camcorder tape carrier. Obviously this was a very inefficient and grueling tape capture process, with required a considerable amount of luck. This took place until I purchased this life-saving Amazon-renewed minidv camcorder, which somehow managed to compensate the problems recorded on tape by my previous camcorder, and played the tapes perfectly with no effort. That said, it is obvious that I am extremely satisfied with my outstanding purchase.

I have had two of these cameras, and both have had some kind of failure in the complicated tape feed mechanisms. I would definitely advise moving away from MiniDV, especially as these refurbished devices get more and more rare.

Product is just old and used, can't blame the seller, just didn't work for me.
