Together, Sean Connery, Richard Gere, Julia Ormond (Legends of the Fall, Sabrina) and Jerry Zucker, the director of Ghost, bring you a new vision of King Arthur's Camelot. A vision of breathtaking battles, of heart-pounding courage, of the undeniable love that brought an entire kingdom to its knees... and of the undying passion that made it live forever.

An enjoyable take on King Arthur
This is a good movie! I enjoyed watching and learning where Lancelot came from, (in this movie) and how King Arthur described the Round Table. A good movie with some great actors! If you like movies about King Arthur and Lancelot and the other knights, don't miss this movie.

This movie is fantastic from 1995
I love every aspect of this movie, it well written, directed, great actors and actresses of this time period. A true period piece with authentic romance. Not bullshit written by wokies and feminists. great story and overall ties in with Waterworld with Kevin Kostner. Sean Connery was a legend.

Entirely Entertaining -- who needs Camelot
A take-off on the Camelot legend, First Knight spins the yarn a tad differently than you learned in English Literature classes. Nonetheless, not encumbered by a classical education, I really enjoyed this tale -- even though some purists have grumbled. Sean Connery plays a fairly convincing Arthur -- more than a little overwhelmed with the ongoing labors of perpetuating his realm, and an almost adolescence passion for his betrothed, the young Guinevere. I like the dashing, somewhat Americanized, version of Lancelot played by Richard Gere - kind of a small town boy makes good sort of character. And the lovely Guinevere, played by Julia Ormond, seems like a great match for the persistently romantic Lancelot.First Knight does stray from the traditional Camelot, but tells a terrific tale nonetheless. Lancelot pursues Guinevere into all sorts of perils. Arthur insists on moral principles and honor at all costs. Prince Malagant is the quintessential fiend: dressed in black, persecuting the innocents, seemingly unconquerable -- and of course showing his true wickedness in the closing scenes. ... the movie will entertain you if you like your adventures stories mixed with swashbuckling swordplay and tenderness, in a classic good versus bad tale. A fun movie!

Great movie!
Our household watched A Knights Tale for movie night and it reminded me so much of how I loved the story of King Arthur and Camelot. I did buy Camelot, the movie, but also saw this one with Sean Connery and Richard Gere (two favorite actors) and took a chance. I absolutely love this film and the story. It was beautifully done and even with so much violence, no swearing or nudity, which makes it a great family movie! Totally loved it!!! I'll watch it over and over!

Welcome to Camelot. The dinner show is at eight.
Almost everyone has heard the story of Lancelot and Guinevere, but it's so rarely told from their perspective. In this version of the tale, Guinevere (Julia Ormond) has just agreed to enter into an arranged marriage with King Arthur (Sean Connery) in order to protect her small principality from their common enemy: a disgraced former Knight of the Round Table (Ben Cross) turned warlord who espouses "might makes right" and "survival of the fittest" in opposition to Arthur's philosophy of universal brotherhood and rule by law than by force. The deciding factor comes with Lancelot (Richard Gere), a swordsman-for-hire who is unfamiliar with the concept of knighthood and serving a cause greater than oneself. His athleticism and swordsmanship empress the king enough, but when he rescues the queen twice in one day, he seems to be a shoe-in for the Round Table. the problem is that now she is in love with both men. This can't end well...In truth, I can't find fault with this film. The direction, cinematography, and acting are all first-rate, particularly that of Sean Connery. I am now convinced that he was born to play the Once and Future King. The script is also impressive, with period swordplay in plenty, gorgeous Gothic-inspired scenery, and a surprise twist ending that left even me speechless. Even if you don't know the first thing about Arthurian lore, give this one a try. It may just become the crown jewel of your video library.
