Works so far
I needed some vinegar for cleaning the rust off of my tools, but I also wanted it to be edible for cooking. So far, I filled a pan with vinegar and salt on the rusted parts and put the tools in the pan. Right now, the pan of solution is bubbling up, obviously doing its chemical job of getting rid of the rust. I have crescent wrenches, ratchets, screw drivers, and other tool attachments in there. I've never done this before, and so we will see what we will see. It looks good so far. They say to leave it submerged for 1 to 3 days, but I will be leaving it in there for a couple of weeks due to a trip I need to make.Update 6-14-2025I came back and the whole vinegar solution was evaporated. I started taking out one tool at a time to work with it. I needed to find my wire brush to scrape off the rust which had turned into a powdery dust on the tools. One tool in particular was a complete success using this method. It was a crescent wrench that had been rusted totally solid. I tried using the channel pliers to turn the knob on the wrench, but it was rusted solid. After this 2-week soaking period, I was able to turn it a little at a time. I had to squirt WD-40 on it at every little point and work it back and forth, a process that took almost an hour. It was a work of love. I had done it before with 2 other crescent wrenches. Those I got started with baking soda and water to make a paste. After 2 hours it dissolved much of the rust at the initial point, and then I just went back and forth with the channel pliers while squirting WD-40 at each point and it all came clear and totally fixed. This vinegar solution to fixing rust seems a little better, obviously because you soke a bunch of them together at once. The baking soda is for just certain areas of the tool. Soaking them in this vinegar works on the whole thing. I scraped off rust dust from my hammer, screwdriver, and other ratchet tools. This vinegar dissolves this rust and turns it into a powder that you can scrape off with a wire brush.Anyway, this vinegar does the trick.

decent quantity for the price
Decent quantity for the price. I use this vinegar mainly for cleaning purposes and decided to buy a large quantity instead of small bottles every now and then. I do not concern myself with its expiration date because I don't think it is really applicable, especially more so since I don't use it as a food additive.
