I recently ordered a Switchbot for my rod style curtains, unfortunately i misunderstood the description of the product thinking they were interchangeable between curtain rod styles. Switchbot customer service was beyond amazing and they really went out of their way to help me, they also updated the product listing to make it easier for customers to order the right product - what other company does this so quickly? Amazing service!Purchasing the correct switchbot i was easily able to instal two of these little guys on my rod style curtain rail. Installation was super quick and very easy. It was simply a case of pulling out the arm (spring loaded) and hooking it over your curtain rod just after the first ring of your eyelet curtains. The switchbots are rechargeable via USB C , battery life appears to be very good with several tests conducted the battery has hardly dropped. The device itself is very well made and feels like a premium product. Pairing the devices to the app is also very simple - press and hold the little button on the back of the bot for 2 seconds until it flashes, open the app and the devices are immediately found. You then just have to tell the app if you want the bots to work independently of each other or work as one pair to open/draw your curtains.The switchbot app is very well designed and i really liked how simple it was to pair and calibrate the switchbots to open and close the right amount. You can set schedules within the app which makes this device a superb security feature if you are away from your home. Also within the app you can set the switchbot to open at a certain light level, however this did not work for me as my switchbot is higher than the window due to where my pole is mounted, therefore the light reading remains at 4 day and night. If you have different style curtains and your bot is lower with direct light this feature may work for you. Opening and closing via the app is as simple as one click. You can choose to open/close the curtains fully or select a percentage to open/close them. The app also shows a nice animation of where your curtains are open/closed too. Firmware updates are also automatic through the app which is great as this means potential new features could be sent straight to your devices.As you can see from my video the opening/closing of the curtains is smooth and fast. Included in the box are clips for eyelet curtains, this ensures a smooth movement and has the bonus of ensuring your curtains have a nice consistent gather to them when drawn.You will need to purchase two of these if your curtains draw each side. if you have one curtain on a track then one of these guys will work just fine for you.I think the curtain rod 2 is absolutely excellent, i absolutely love this product! I have now been drawn into the Switchbot eco system and have ordered the switchbot button (to control the curtains without having to open the app each time), the mini hub (so i can control my curtains remotely and via Alexa) and two solar panels so that i can charge the switchbots without having to plug them into a wall outlet. I am looking forward to seeing what other products this company releases! I'm hooked!I can not recommend this product enough - purely as a security device it is excellent. To be able to set schedule's for when you are away from home to open and draw the curtains is something i have wanted for a long time if only for added piece of mind.The Switchbot Curtain Rod 2 is a very well designed & innovative product that every smart home should invest in! Curtain 2This is excellent and really impressed. Easy to set up and create a routine in Alexa to close at sunset.Did want to get another set for the lounge curtains but seems it doesn’t cater to the width of rail, so people need to take note of size.They are a little expensive as you most often need 2…HubImpressed at the size as very small.Seems to occasionally suffer with connectivity issues - The switchbot app shows cloud connected to curtain/bot/thermostat, but fails if too far away. Needs careful placing.I have used this to create virtual remotes for controlling Sky and Samsung TV via Alexa. Altho they work fine none of the templates worked for me which just meant a little extra time configuring.ButtonLooks good but haven’t tried it yet; I want it to control my garage door (press mode) and looks to be just the job.SwitchWorks fine every time for the curtains. But not really using this as we use Alexa routines to open/close curtains.Missing a huge opportunity here; if the switch could run Alexa routines (and IFFT) then it could be used for multiple actions not just Bluetooth enabled switchbot products. I don’t see any other products on the market that could do this…MeterA bit disappointed. Wanted this for the green house which is in the garden ~ 18 metres way, with one house wall to go thru. It doesn’t reach despite saying up to 80 metre range. It does reach my shed which is ~ 4 metres away and works fine this close.Again, if you could run Alexa/IFFT routines it would make it (so much more) useful.SummarySome really good ideas here and generally good pricing. There are so many opportunities for integration with other apps like Alexa and IFFT if Switchbot can make some changes…

Very ImpressedExtremely easy to install, clip to rail and calibrate via the app and your good to go.The item feels very strong and well made, a lot of thought has gone into the phone app.I have my desk setup up against window which made it a challenge to open my curtains. This device makes it easy to get natural light into the Living room.It can link to Alexa and be used in routines (with a switchbox hub). For example if I say Alexa film night, The lights will turn off, the TV will turn on and the curtains will automatically shut.You also open and close the curtain via the app, Set a scheduled to open and close the curtains at specific times, or set it open and close at sun rise and sun set - without a switchbot Hub.The battery life is also really good have had it running for about a month and it’s the battery is still at 85% (running at least twice a day).A really nice additional to anyone smart home system.Will definitely be buying from switch Bot again

Ask yourself… why do they only give you 1 year warranty??? Because they don’t last long!!I bought two, one lasted less than 2 years through normal use!! They offered to replace it before asking me how long I’d had it, and then backtracked. Shocking aftersales service.

This is a very good idea, can be fitted into many scenarios. App works fine. Battery is good. After 20-30 uses, it is still around 50%. There is even manual operation, if you push the curtain a bit to open or close, the device detects it and starts opening or closing fully, which is nice.Coming to flaws:- It is noisy. It wakes me up in the morning when it is operating. Cat jumps from the bed.- Calibration goes off after a few operations. Then the curtain either stays semi-opened or semi-closed. You have to recalibrate often which is very annoying. This happens even when I choose performance mode.
