SystaneNighttime Lubricant Eye Ointment 3.5g Tube

I experienced a sudden extreme bought of dry eye months after starting a job that requires me to get in and out of many many cars after driving them for only a few minutes at a time. My eye problems started at the end of the summer where I had grown into the habit of, after getting into hot car after hot car, I would crank up the air conditioner sky high and the fan speed up as high as possible, and point the fan straight at my upper body and face. Because I was only in each car for a few minutes, I had the air blasting at me nearly all day. Further, during this time we had a few weeks where it was constantly windy. This all led to my eyes becoming extremely painfully dry (which has never ever happened to me before), so much so that I had to wear laboratory goggles in my home and motorcycle glasses outside and at work. I had to shut my eyes when walking because I could feel the air hitting my eyeballs like paper cuts. It was excruciatingly painful. I got gel eyedrops but those never lasted more than a few minutes at a time and still did not help as much as I needed. Then I bought this at my local pharmacy and, even though this is a night time eye product, I had no other option than to use this during the day and at night. After doing that for several weeks my eyes began to heal. Even now I use this whenever I feel that my eyes have been or may be exposed to prolonged wind or fans, and today my eyes seem to have recovered. I’m very thankful for this product and will never go without it again. I try to carry it around with me wherever I go.This product has the consistency of Vaseline basically, so when you put it in you will have blurred vision. However, that was something I was willing to live with as the pain was unbearable and the relief this ointment provided was instant. The way I apply it is I lift up my upper eyelid, squeeze some ointment out underneath it, and do the same for the lower one, then I roll my eyes around both ways. I also put this in as many times a day as I need.Update: as of 12/18/24, the sides of the tube split open and began leaking out. I put electrical tape around it, so hopefully that will stop the leaking. I will still use and keep purchasing the product as it’s the only thing that helps me, but may handle it with more care so this doesn’t happen again.

Was using a different brand with a plastic tip that wasted a lot of product. This design of tip makes it easy to apply with little if any waste. The ointment itself seems to work better. Very pleased…

I have dry eyes and this works great. I use it at night because it is a gel and does blur vision. It helps a lot.

With severe dry eyes I have used many eye lubricants. I truly find this to be a good quality ointment but just wish it was a little thicker so it didn’t drip out of the eye as much. It is best to use at night before bed because it does make my vision a little blurry for a half hour or so. However, it does a good job keeping the eye moist. It’s an easy to use twist cap relatively fair price. It lubricates the eyes and works but could be a little thicker. I recommend it for dry eyes.

As someone who’s had lasik surgery, my eyes have been a lot dryer. I usually rush to my eyedrops in the morning when I woke up, but the night i put this in my lower eyelids, my eyes were just fine. It worked! I actually can’t believe it did. Your eyes are blurry when you apply this so you gotta make sure you’re ready to sleep when you use this. Overall, super happy!

I'm giving this 5 stars only because I'm sure it works for other people, it's just not for me. It's not easy to apply like regular eye drops. It's jelly-like lubricant is difficult to apply onto my bottom eyelid. It's an extremely small container and the tip is not soft so it's hard to apply. It's probably easier as you get used to it's application, but I gave up on it. The little that I was able to apply didn't seem to help with my dry eyes. It was recommended by my ophthalmologist which is the only reason I tried it. It's pricy for the tiny tube you get.

Dry eyes are painful. This soothes my eyes at night. Granted, you cannot see very well which is why they suggest using at bedtime. The relief is limited since when the salve gets warm it tends to run but there is a lingering effect until morning and I am glad I bought it. Actually it was suggested by my eye doctor and he knows more than me. The biggest problem is getting the last bit out of the tube: it is difficult and often unsuccessful. It is a tiny amount to start with so you need that last bit.
